We are a Canadian family operated 15 room economy hotel for those on a budget. We are not “cheap”, we’re inexpensive and more affordable than other options

(… and a lot more fun!).

We’re located in the popular Sosua neighbourhood of “El Batey”. This means a short 10 minute walk takes you to the main beach, our busiest local casino, or to the heart of downtown Sosua. We are located about a 15 minute drive from the Puerto Plata Airport (POP). For those of you arriving at POP, or from other locations by Caribe or Metro bus, we can readily pick you up for a small fee - with advanced notice.

Our rooms are quiet, clean and all include fans/AC, cable TV, and electronic safes. WI-FI is available free of charge throughout the facility. We have a well maintained pool, and back up energy systems. At reasonable rates the Coco offers these and similar routine amenities.

We also enjoy a close relationship with the local medical community and can ensure immediate access to same in the event of health problems either minor or major.
Part of our corporate mission statement is to assertively assist indigent people with matters related to both education & health services. Sometimes this involves Coco fund raisers – these are FUN events – and not to be missed! We can also direct you to reputable local organizations if you have a personal interest in assisting in addressing any community challenges.

We have 24 hour security; you may come and go safely at all times without the need to ever pay additional fees or gratuities. The bar service is always available to our guests.

The Coco Hotel sits among the lush tropical forests of the North Island and is surrounded by beaches populated and secluded; both large and small. It lies in the heart of the Dominican culture where you can interact with local people in their own environment and purchase (or simply pick up!) organic fruits, vegetables, dairy products, exotic seafood’s, as well as other goods.
A variety of local restaurants are located just outside the hotel, and many more within 10 minutes. Visit these restaurants and enjoy their atmosphere. Tired? We can arrange for delivery of almost any food that appeals to your palate. Join us for occasional special BBQ’s, or local Dominican meals prepared right on site.
Our friendly “neighbourhood style” bar acts as a great meeting point where you can use your computer, eat meals, enjoy local beverages, gather local information, or just socialize with other guests or locals. Incidentally the information you can learn in such “casual conversations” of this type – such as great experiences (otherwise unknown), some spectacular rip offs, as well as prevailing “local” prices are not to be underestimated (as examples have MUCH more fun, and paying up to 1/3 less!). The town of Sosua offers a variety of tourist attractions from numerous water activities, diving being VERY popular, to guided tours around the North Island. The Town’s night life is internationally renowned! Enjoy romantic dinners on the beach, or take in one or more of the many clubs and discos. Unlike other hotels you will find our guests come from all demographic groups and from all over the world. Collectively they demonstrate interests in most aspects of Sosua’s culture. If you are looking for FUN, Sosua’s Coco Hotel is where you need to start your search! Almost ANY language problem can be addressed – well, at least within an hour or so!
